Why Rereading Matters on Your Electrical Exam

It is attention to minute, specific details that can make a 5-to-10 point difference on an electrical licensing exam. A common mistake test takers make is rushing through the question and selecting the first answer that feels right—without checking if it reads right.

It is highly imperative to reread a test question after you think you've formulated your answer. Why? Because many questions are written in a very specific way, and the correct answer often mirrors the exact wording used in the NEC. If your answer choice doesn’t match word for word with what the question is asking or what’s stated in the NEC, it might be wrong—even if it seems close.

This level of precision is not just nitpicking; it's how test writers separate those who truly know the material from those who are guessing. Train yourself to slow down, reread, and verify. Just a few extra seconds of attention can boost your score significantly.
